  1. About a week ago the Tigers played Kansas in a big game that many were watching on ESPN. Two years ago Kansas sent the national championship into overtime with a buzzer beater 3 pointer. It was only the second time the Tigers have made it to the national championship game. Derek Rose was the Tigers main player that year. The night before he had supposedly eaten too much candy and did not play to his full potential. Chris Douglas Roberts also had been in the entire game so by the end he had no energy left to hold them off.
  2. Parkour is a very fast growing sport. It consists of making regular obstacles such as stairs or walls and turning them into a workout. The advanced versions can be things such as back flips and barrel rolls. For the most part people do it due to the extreme workout it provides. Parkour literally translates into the art of moving. It was first designed by a French athelete named David Belle. Even buildings can be incorporated into the art of this sport. Most everywhere can be used but it is mostly practiced in urban settings.
On Friday Health officials reported that the H1N1 seemed to be having a slight decrease in infection. 43 states instead of 46 are now active and contaminated. Places such as Maine and Hawaii are having a bit of an outbreak however. The flu season usually is not until December but with the swine flu it started in early April. There were 21 deaths in children from the swine flu in the past week. The vaccine has been becoming more available in these last few months. 54.1 million doses have been given out so far.

  1. In Atlana there is a rugby league for wheelchair ridden people. Talbot Kennedy became a quadriplegic on his last day of high school. Rugby helped Talbot come to terms with his injury and new life. They play tournaments across the country November through April. When he got his injury he was attempting a back flip but landed on his head. He was paralyzed from his chest down. He had a cheerleading scholarship but lost that with his injury. When he was recovering he saw a wheelchair rugby match and that is what got him hooked.
  2. Kids being scared of monsters and such is being studied currently. She helps her kids recognize that they are just recorded voices and not real. It has been found that this tequinque works on kids ages 7 and up but not on younger children. The girls tended to be more passive while the boys wanted to attack monsters when put in a fake situation. For example if a child believes the “boogey man” is under their bed then saying that it wants to play will be effective.

Rats and effects of alchohol

Its no secret that drinking and poor decision making go hand in hand. It has been tested that drinking can lead to bad behavior even after it has left the system. It is said that the emotions can transfer over to adulthood. They tested this by using rats and having them consume alcohol. It also turns out that rats seem to enjoy the beverage. For twenty days rats helped themselves to Jell-O shots. They were even able to pace themselves. The group of rodents that had been "dry" for the 20 days preferred the lever that led to the smaller and more consistent allotment of treats before they were tested.

Meat and Lead poisoning

Meat if shot by a hunter can be riddled with lead. These small shards of lead can lead to poisoning. Some hunters have been dying due to this. Sixty percent of a stores supply of deer meat contained these shards of lead. Pregnant women and children under the age of six have been told not to eat any meat shot with this ammunition. This discovery sparked the idea of whether or not hunting and eating meat is safe. Lead has been used in weapons since roman times and they also encountered some of the same sorts of problems.

9/24/09

The subject I have decided to observe is a funeral. I will observe the sorrowful occurrence of one loosing a loved one. There will be tears, silence, and much needed reassurance that their love one is in a better place. It will have people from all walks of life and all times from said individual’s life. There will be those who love, hate, and don’t even know the deceased. I will witness the events that unfold as a human being leaves this world and how their lasting impact in other’s lives transform into tears, stories, and general personal grieving.

OBservation Exercises

Observation Exercise Video

Im able to focus more because I am alone and I can watch any part I feel I misunderstood. His mother continues to ask him if he wants fish but he denies her each time. This taught me that if you take out one aspect of something then the other aspects are better expressed

Observation Exercise In Class

When I was in the middle with Bobby it was very nerve racking and I was all tensed up. I could not think of where to start the conversation. We began to talk about the football game and eventually led into lamas and donuts. My body language could surely say something about how I was feeling. I went to class that day expecting it to be like any other day however it turned out to be a blast.

When I was Terrified

Elliot Felsenthal

  • My worst experience was when I had to bail out of my kayak on the Ocoee River
  • I respect the rivers power and force over me
  • The utter fear of being dragged down an extremely fast river with no way of stopping and no one to help
When you are surrounded by water and its moving…….unlike in a pool where it is stagnant……it is a fear unlike any other

Autobiography

Elliot Felsenthal

Autobiographies are very important because it gives you a perspective from that person about them. Biographies can be biased based on whom it is about and who writes it. Autobiographies can be much more informative and true for that matter. Autobiographies are very worth reading due to the better accuracy and truth. They can be a great deal more helpful and informative.

Elliot FELSENTHALS assignment

Elliot Felsenthal

9/8/09

p.7 pt. 1 &2

The last paper I wrote was my 12th grade final research paper on Crime in English literature. It took about 3 weeks before I began to put anything at all on paper. I had to read through pages and pages of research to get an idea of some books I had not read nor had the time to read. My plan began as me trying to wing it and write what I thought of for an entire 3 pages but I soon realized I had to write my ideas down in outline form and form my ideas more fully. As I began writing I had to change and further develop my ideas to make the paper the correct length. When I got stuck on having no more ideas to record my teacher helped me to develop the ideas deeper and in more detail.
